Is Being a Tutor Right for You?
There are families in your area who are interested in homeschooling and need a community.
Tutors are homeschool parents who are trained to lead a group of students in a local community one day a week. They come alongside parents by modeling the skills of learning and practicing them together, building a rich community along the way.
Sharpen your own classical education skills while building community around you.
Mutual support. Redeemed education. Personal reward.

FAQ
A Tutor is a homeschool parent chosen by a Director. The Tutor is then trained by the Director and Classical Conversations to lead a group of students through CC’s curriculum one day a week in a local community. Tutors model the classical arts of learning alongside students and families, serving as a guide and fellow learner rather than a classroom teacher.
No formal teaching credentials or experience are required. Classical Conversations equips parents to tutor through online and face-to-face coaching. A willingness to learn, a love for your community, and a commitment to classical, Christian education are the most important qualifications.
Tutors may serve in Foundations, Essentials, or Challenge programs, depending on the needs of the local community, the Director’s needs, and the Tutor’s preference. While there is no “right way” to start the tutoring journey, many Tutors begin in Foundations and move into leading older students as their own students advance.
Tutors lead their group one day a week during the community day, typically ranging from two hours to six hours depending on the program level. Additional time is spent in personal preparation and review of the weekly material. The time commitment is meaningful but designed to be sustainable for a homeschool parent.
Yes, Classical Conversations provides training for all Tutors, and local leadership is available to offer ongoing guidance and encouragement. Tutors are never on their own; the CC community model is built on mutual support at every level.
Tutor compensation varies by program level and enrollment and is determined at the local level. Your local Director can provide specific details about how Tutors are compensated.
