The Foundations Curriculum, sixth edition, arrives April 2027,
with redesigned maps, refreshed timelines, integrated hands-on learning,
and a brand-new companion: the Foundations At-Home Planner.
The sixth edition preserves what your family loves about Foundations: the shared memory work, the Five Core Habits of Grammar, the joy of learning in community. What’s new is a skills-forward design that aligns every page to those Five Habits: Naming, Attending, Memorizing, Expressing, and Storytelling. Whether you’re singing memory work over breakfast or reviewing flashcards on a road trip, Foundations meets you wherever learning happens.
Six new map sets, one per cycle, each with three map types. The color key map is a full-color reference with a clear legend and child-friendly typography. The blackline map gives students a blank canvas for tracing and copying locations from community day. The student-drawn inspiration map, created by former National Memory Master finalists, shows what mastery looks like. Every map was verified against satellite imagery and the U.S. Geological Survey.
The timeline keeps its 161-event structure for memorization but now reflects a fuller global scope, shaped by international CC leaders and global working teams. Card 161 carries the eternal mission of Classical Conversations: “To know God and to make Him known,” and every event in the timeline points toward this powerful conclusion that grounds your family’s journey through history.
Fully integrated art projects! Learn oil pastel techniques, explore textures, and develop confidence over time. Older or returning students will find inspiration in illustrations that challenge them further.
Science activities now include color illustrations and labeled diagrams right in the curriculum. Everything your family needs for curiosity and wonder is right at your fingertips.
New introductory articles equip parents with the why behind Foundations: the classical model, the purpose of memory work, and how to tailor the program for your child. The sixth edition weaves the Classical Conversations® MultiMedia resources you already know (Echoes, Uncle Paul, Prescripts, The Math Map, timeline, drawing activities, and more) into one cohesive plan. It gives your family the resources and a structure for using them, without locking you into a rigid schedule.
