Southern Pines, North Carolina—A credit union that serves Christians has become a major sponsor of Classical Conversations’ National Number Knockout Competition and the Capstone Cruise.
Thrivent Federal Credit Union (TFCU) has agreed to sponsor National Number Knockout (N2K) at the fifth USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C., April 7-8, in addition to putting up the $10,000 prize for the N2K national championship during the Capstone Cruise on May 1.
“We are very excited about Thrivent Federal Credit Union’s sponsorship,” said Elisabeth Webber, coordinator for both N2K and the Capstone Cruise. “Their generosity is going to let us do a lot of new things, both in terms of N2K and the cruise.”
On the cruise TFCU will be paying for a special excursion for all the CC graduates while in Nassau, Bahamas, as well as other excursions for all the N2K and National Memory Master competitors and their immediate families, according to Webber.
Graduates will enjoy an afternoon of snorkeling, sailing, and sunning aboard an 86-foot-long, state-of-the-art catamaran on April 30. They will sail out to one of the Bahamas’ most beautiful reefs teeming with tropical fish. The crew will provide the graduates with snorkel equipment and instruction in its use. Then it will be time to dive in and spend a couple of hours exploring the colorful fish and coral formations.
While the graduates are off sailing and snorkeling, their families, the N2K competitors and their families will have the opportunity to enjoy a day of water sports at Junkanoo Beach in Nassau, courtesy of TFCU. This package includes all-day access to non-motorized beach water sports equipment. Equipment includes single kayaks, double kayaks, snorkel gear, paddle boards, water trampoline, inflatables, beach volleyball and soccer balls.
Never fear, National Memory Master competitors; you have not been forgotten. Although the NMM families will be glued to their seats on the cruise ship for the NMM competition on Monday, they will get to enjoy the same kind of amenities the following day while on Princess Cay, Carnival’s private island.
“Classical Conversations is selective about the organizations that we partner with,” said CEO Robert Bortins. “Thrivent Federal Credit Union was a sponsor of our 20th-anniversary celebration back in October, and we are very proud to partner with them again.”
