21 Classical Conversations students received their high school diplomas this afternoon during a first of its kind CC graduation on board the Carnival cruise ship Victory.
More than 300 people—CC students, parents and staff—joined in the five-day Capstone Cruise to the Bahamas, May 1-5, which featured the graduation ceremony and the national championships in National Memory Masters and National Number Knockout. This was the first year for National Memory Masters championship and third year in a row for National Number Knockout.
Keith Denton, CC chief operations officer, gave the welcome to the large group, as well as the benediction.
A senior ensemble made up of graduates Hannah Bos, Sierra Bromen, Matthew Heinrich and Olivia Simons led the audience in singing, “Great is Thy Faithfulness,” and “Come Thou Fount.”
CC founder Leigh Bortins introduced three graduates who gave short speeches on the topic of fathers. Those who spoke included James Sanford, Pierz Barry and Sierra Bromen. Bortins’ son and CEO, Robert Bortins Jr., gave a charge to the graduates.
The graduates included: Christina Alphs, Eleanor Baer, Pierz Barry, Daniel Bitts, Joshua Blackburn, David Bortins, Hannah Bos, Sierra Bromen, Amanda Cannon, Kiera Gleason, Allan Griggs, Matthew Heinrich, Rebecca Leak, Claire Michael, Joshua Nolan, Donna Salmans, James Sanford, Olivia Simons, Jocelyn Smith, Morgan Thomas and Paul Young.
Classical Conversations® is a classical education resource used by homeschoolers in all 50 states and 14 foreign countries.
